All that will happen is the air bag light in the dash will come on and no you can't turn it off in the computer. you can remove the instument cluster and take the bulb out. I did this in my 92 4 cylinder conversion however there was also a module that sounds an annoying alarm/beeps every half hour now for a few seconds. I've just been to lazy to unplug the module under the dash. don't know if that'll be the case for you if you pull the bulb but highly likely

depends on what state you live in?? maryland it'll pass but we have to note it on the state inspection sheet that the light was on. I was also refering to removing the light bulb from the instrument cluster... not going in with a scan tool and turning the light off..... in my 92 it's also linked to an alarm module that'll sound every 30 min to alert the occupant that there is a malfunction with the air bag system since the light is no longer in the cluster.

I doubt it will pass any inspection with that light on, whether theres an airbag in there or not. If the car came with the bag and will be used on the street, keep the bag. Youll have to report it to the insurance agency if you remove it.

Like I said it depends on the state you live in I'm a state inspector here and all were required to do is note it on the sheet we can't fail it here for that.
