1992 power window problem
Here's problem 2 of my saga...
Power windows dont work, again i checked out the fuses/relay and its fine. we hardwired the motors to the battery on both sides and they dont even click or make a noise, so im assuming they are dead (correct me if im wrong).
What im wondering is, for the time being, is there any way to manually overide the window so i can roll it up? cuz i dont feel comfortable leaving a car with the windows rolled down. Anyone know any tip or trick to detach the motor (from what ive seen it looks riveted on and impossible to remove) or move the window arm(does not want to budge a millimeter, i assume cuz the motor wont budge)?
Thanks again guys,
Til next time,
Brian

On a side note, will a 86 fox body door fit on my car?
Reason i ask is cuz i was considering converting it to manual windows, and the easiest way i see doing that is to get a manual windowsdoor from an older stang, but i dont know if it will fit onto my car. Thanks again.

any 79-93 door will interchange if its a hardtop, aka hatch or notch, a vert and t-top are different. If your windows use to work its unlikely they both went at the same time, sounds like a switch. If you hook up to the battery and it doesn't work hit it with a hammer. If it works then you have a motor problem, you would have to knock all the rivets that hold it in to move the window manualy. Then you need to wedge it to hold it up, a piece of wood from bottom of door to bottom of window works good
take the motor off so you can manually pull the regularor up by hand... then reinstall motorfor the time being. as for putting manual doors on just get a door off a manual window equipped car and transfer alll the stuff like the regulator and crank assembly to your car... alittle more work but at least you won't have to repaint your doors.
To take the motor out there is three brass looking bolts holding it in. Take it out and retest it. It probably didnt work since the motor had the force of the regulator against it. Also when you take them out remove the screw holding the cover on the motor. The cover is around the gear. Check to see how the bushings look. They are probably shot. Replacing them might fix the problem.
most of the time it is just the bushings in the motors that need to be replaced. i just did mine in my 91 and when i opened the motor up the bushings were broken into pieces. i had no clue because it rolled down one day and would not go back up. my window motors were held with three 8mm brass looking bolts. if you pull the motor out, reconnect the wire harness and hit the window button with the key on and see if you hear it running, if so you probably only need to change the bushings which are only like 5 bucks.
