Default Digital Dash - Fast & Furious style - UPDATE

Check it out ....... going to use my Fujitsu LT C-500 tablet pc
in my car for a "digital dash" in conjuction with my AEM computer

Had the computer for years, using it in my plane for XM sat datalink weather
and GPS charts and approaches.

Its 500mzh PC with daylight readable high bright TFT touch screen
use a IR keyboard and just touch the screen for mouse.

Haven't decided where to mount yet using R.A.M. ball and socket mounting system
It's in my field of vision better in top position but I'll get more screen glare up there.

Maybe I'll make the screen flash "intake over boost ...... intake over boost" at 6,000 rpm ....... ROFL !!!!!

Yes screen rotates and I can re-do and change gauge layout till my hearts content

I wish I could find a way to use a digital set up in my car, I think they look cool. We have one in our aerostar.

Approaches? So you're an instrument rated private pilot too? (or commercial or ATP.) Sounds like you have the same expensive hobbies that I have. Well, I never actually owned a plane though. Always had to rent[&:] And even when I did rent I was too cheap to use GPS. Good old fashioned NDBs and VORs.

Anyway, to stay on topic. As you know I've been toying with the idea for awhile to use with my Tweecer. I just can't find a place to install the screen and make it look clean.

Its not going to mounted ALL the time.
but will allow me to see and tune while driving.

Can display pretty much any every funtion the computer monitors.

want a water temp gauge?
want a boost gauge that reads off the computers MAP sensor?
want a air inlet temp gauge?
knock ?
gauge to show total timing the computer is running?

you can dream it I can display it if I want to or make it give warnings

IFR private, ................... and yes its not going to mounted 100% of the time
but will allow for testing and tuning and cool factor at drives in and such

Sounds like a great idea. Right now I drive around with my widescreen 17" laptop sitting on the floor of the passenger side, which can be a pain in the *** as you can imagine. Originally I was going with the $85 mini-pc idea you saw before. But now I'm thinking a tablet PC or something similar.

Like you said, you can monitor a TON of stuff at the same time without having to run seperate gauges, lines, etc.

You can get those tablet Pc's off ebay for $200-400 all the time.

just make sure you get one with Windows 2000 already
and the "outdoor" screen, indoor screen is no better than standard laptop.

Fujitsu LT C-500

or its big brother with better CPU
Fujitsu LT P-600

must have OUTDOOR screen though.
