Default radar detector?

i'm plannin on a nice one within a week or two, but i was wondering...

for those of you with one, did you hard wire it to a key source? or do you have a ugly plug reaching across the console...

also, where did you mount it? i was planning a permanent mount directly over the driver side front speaker.
can't really mount in the middle of the windshield, given the 2 1/2" cowl

whattya think?

I got the ugly plug running across[:'(] also I have mine velcrod above the rearview mirror, to the plastic trim where the windshield meets the roof, the higher the detector is the better

I have mine hidden it's right above my clock (sn95) and it runs through the dash and I hot wired it in so it goes on with my radio it took 10 minutes.

actually higher is only better for detecting radar...for laser lower is better...so usually right in the middle is best depending what the fuzz usually use in yur state...check this site out...they'll have all yur answers

matt, mine is right above the driver speaker, under my a-pillar gauges.

cops usually cant even see it unless they decide to peak inside the window.

and mine has like a 20ft wire so its under the carpet but it still uses the cigarette lighter.

shibby_cbs has done his research

anyways dont buy the cheap ones, and dont buy a cobra lol
get a Bel X65, Escort 8500, or Valentine One. those are the top 3 radars. i have a cheap cobra and i wasted my money. if you want laser protection get the Blinder M21. samseed will chime in im sure and say that they are a waste...he is right...but they can work, traffic conditions are best but if ur flying past everyone else ur easily picked out...best thing to do is stay 5-10mph over the limit if ya got to speed.
