Default Drivetrain build...

Hello everyone, im having a hard time getting started building my drive train, everything is a toss up ive considered a stroker a 347, 331, even maybe a stroked windsor but... i just cant make up my mind so i figured to work my way up does anyone have any suggestions for a good solid block to start with in building a stroker? is the factory 302 good enough for a 347 or would you go aftermarket please guys help me get going in the right dirrection.

yeah u can go with the stock block on 347, thats max u can go. with a good setup, NA u almost max the block out, so if u plan to boost or spray and make more than 50extra hp then i would advise aftermarket block or get a girdle for everything to hold the stocker together.

yea im aware that 347 maxes out the block and i guess i should throw some numbers out there im trying to make close to 500 to the wheels, as far as boost or spray goes maybe down the road but a nice N/A motor is my goal as of now. i thought going with a stroked 302 would be good just cause there so much cheaper to come across as opposed to a windsor, but then again i know the 351 is reliable... sorry for the long posts

500rwhp isnt gonna happen on a stock block for long. get a dart block or a 351 and call it a day. 351's can hold 600-700bhp

well they have rollers and non roller blocks, some one knows which blocks come in year & make. do a search. somebody posted all the info you need. dart blocks are like 2k or 2,500...very pricy, but if ya want to make a freakin butt load of power, it will hold it.

get a roller block if you can, but even a flat tappet cammed 351w will make gobs of power

right but would you get a roller if you were going to do a stroker? there are so many set ups i just want to have a decent performer that is reliable without being just a regular 302 i guess... thanks for your posts

i have a 331 that is hyd. roller. the only reason to get flat tapped or solid is so u can rev it higher. hyd. setups will get valve float at around 6K or more. i keep it at 6K and get a roller setup so u dont have to adjust rocker arms every so often.
