HELP
hOOKED UP BATTERY BACKWARDS ON 93 MUSTANG 5.0. Replace selenoid which was smoked also ignition module. A light green wire had the outside melted off right by the positive of selenoid. Is this a fusible link that i should replace. It does show good with a meter. Could the alt diode or reg prevent it from starting. It does turn over and fpr says 38psi. Do i have to check computer codes. The dome light seems to have a constant 12v on it now soI have to pull the fuse or light bulb. Any help? Should I put the new computer in fot the heck of it also?
rule out everything first before you suspect the computer. when you hook up the battery backwards normally you'll blow the weakest link (fusable link) the fusable links are in little black covers that say fusable link on top. check those. i doubt you did any damage to the comp, but its possible.
if you have fuel pressure you need to check for spark.....do you have spark..... and check for injector pulse also via noid light......I had a friend who did that to his mustang once and it sorted the selonoid melted half the wire harness and sorted the alternator so that every time you tried to hook the battery back up right....a huge spark would occur= dead short.... anyway check the stuff above
