Ok, i bought some solid motor mounts and I want to swap them out this week, but I don't have a lift, what should I do? where should I jack it from or how would you do it?
Also, should I go with a solid trans mount as well or just poly? Does it matter? Just didn't know.
thanks

I put mine on stands, then used a jack and block of wood to support the engine, then did 1 at a time, i would go poly trans mounts as you will have less vibration on the shifter ****

ok thanks, so you don't have to run the same motor/trans mounts? i thought i read somewhere that if you were solid on one end and not on the other, you could risk breaking something?

not true...solid tranny mounts on a everyday car will drive you batty.
just losen your tranny mounts a lil when jacking motor up...and depending on exhaust you might have to losen or take off cause of clearance.

if you decide to go with solid you need to stiffen your chassie i broke both my a pillers on a normal mount and did not leave hard about 2500 or so

Both of the above posts are off a bit.
I still can't figure out why everyone says solids are so bad, they really aren't. I'm running a poly trans mount, and I'm doing just fine. Loosen up the trans mounts like grabbem said, put a block of wood between the jack and the oilpan and jack it up as much as you need from there. After loosening the motor mounts, obviously. You'll like em. Shakes a small bit, sure. That's the beautiful part.

i went with the prothane motor/trans mounts. the are beefy as hell man. i do recommend them. install for both about a half hour. theres the main nut holding the engine to the k-member, and 3 bolts on each that hold it to the engine. the trans i just unbolted and pushed up on it, slipped the old one out and the new one in.
