Ok...for starters i have a GT-40 intake which i plan on getting port& polish work done to it and im getting a 70mm TB and i also have an F cam now my question is which heads would complement my set up the best...the only restiction is that i have to keep it within the the ball park of 1,000$ and i dont want to have to notch any pistons so i could use all the advice i can get..thanks for the help

the F cam is no good, i'll tell you that right now. get yourself into something dual pattern, seriously. you would be better with a Trick flow stage 1 (part number TFS-51402000, 221/225 duration @.050 .499/.512 lift 112 deg. lobe separation) or something or similar size (btw this is similar in size to the F cam but will make much better power due to its advanced design)

here is a link for GT40P heads that have been worked over with 1.94/1.54 valves, and springs good for .550 lift (perfect pressure for the cam listed above) 600 bucks for the pair

http://www.tristatecylinderhead.com/...products_id=40

with "P" heads, you'll need to either get "P" specific headers (they make them for fox bodies and they may fit into the classic stangs as well), or you may have to do some header tube dimpling to make spark plugs fit cause they spark plug angles are revised.

these are probably the best bang for the buck heads anywhere around

I dont know what your talking about at all 77, yes its not a dual stage cam but it still has more duration on exhaust than a steeda or trickflow cam , more lift and would have a much sicker idle and would give you a lot more midrange and top end power which a 5.0 lacks and you can use it without notching pistons. As for heads the only heads you will find for around a grand are gt40x from blue oval other than that the debate over tw and afr rages on andon which is better both are a few hundred more than a grand.

a) everyone knows the ford grinds lack any real modern technology. thats not even a debate. i mentioned the trick flow cam as a vanilla answer to finding something of similar size but in a dual pattern. im sure there are comp, crane, lunati, and other cams out there that all fit the bill within a narrow window of any given duration and lift.

b) it also seems to be that the RHS heads outperform the TF and AFR heads. but since the guy is going cobra intake and he asked which heads would complement his intake the best - it would seem to be that am improved version of cobra heads would work quite well.

but then again, i dont know much about heads cause im not a machinist or anything [8D]

Yes it would be worth it. I understand the b and e cam not being the best cams out there.

ya he said to work with stock notches so i didnt even bring up rhs. Just because something was designed a long time ago doesnt always means it doesnt work well. I am just a proponet though of f cam mostly due to hearing a few at idle and seeing how they perform in supercharged and non supercharged 5.0's and i was hooked. But you are right there are probably cams from the big 3 cam companys that would work better but i dont know which ones that much better while using stock pistons from being around 5.0's in my area. But if you can enlighten me the main default with the f cam i would like to learn. Mainly because exhaust duration on em is still is more than adequate.

i dont think i ever found specs for the steeda #19, so i cant really comment on that. your cobra intake and 165's will be fine, but im sure a different intake would benefit you later on.
