Default Big Problem need help, possibly keyless entry alarm

I have a 91 LX 5.0. I have the factory Keyless entry/alarm. A couple weeks ago my car was acting up. I would push the buton on the remote and the car would do nothing, not lock or unlock. Id use the key to unlock which would set the alarm off and my car remote then worked. Now.... every once in a while i would go to start the car and it would act like the battery is dead. Well I got a new battery and everything worked fine. Now today I put in a new thermostat (has nothing to do with the problem im just explaining further so someone can help). I ran to autozone to get coolant and radiator stop leak. I came back home and turned the car off. My remote did not work. I put coolant in and stop leak, and went to start the car. The battery acted like it was dead. So i then uncovered the celenoid, and crossed over the 2 terminals and the car started. Now my problem I can pretty much say i think it is with the alarm part of the car. Because when the alarm doesnt work and my remote doesnt work thats when the car acts like the battery is dead... BUT i can start it from the celenoid and it starts perfectly! I have the chilton manual and it says nothing absolutly nothing about keyless entry alarm system. I have no idea where fuses or anything are for it.. if there are even any fuses at all. I need help badly... i know where the harness for the alarm is, its behind the stereo... and its connected properly. and i cant bypass it or disconnect it because it still wouldnt start from the key. Please any help would be appreciated... or any link to a site that can help would be appreciated. thanks..

i have no idea what it could be but maybe it also could be like the "main brain" of the alarm system. any ideas? also... does anyone know where this is located at (the main brain).

I just got done looking at 22 pages of wiring diagrams and couldn't find any alarm system in the wiring diagrams. Are you 100% sure it is factory.I know that with the Merc Grandmarues the keyless and alarm wasn't avalible till 1993.You might want to check with a Ford dealer in the service department. They have a list of what years the alarms started. You might have a car the someone put the alarm in and that might be a nightmare to figure it out.You might want to climb under the dash and start looking for strange things and see if you can find the alarm system.

Yeah you would have one of the rarest 91 fox body's made if that is a factory alarm. Have you changed the battery in the remote for the alarm?

Back in the day...I used to work for Tyson's Ford, and I was the guy who installed all the dealer alarms. What is probably happening is one of two things. Either the alarm has gone bad, and the internal relay is sticking, but depending on the alarm, it could be an external relay. Or the alarm is fine, and the wiring under the dash was done with connectors, and has corroded, and isn't making a good conection. The easiest fix for this is to go under the dashboard, and find the wiring for the alarm. The only wire that actually had to be cut is the starter wire. If you splice the wire back together, it will be as if the alarm was never in there. By the way, there was no installed factory alarm, It was a Code Alarm that made an alarm for Ford dealerships called a Chapman system. Any time a salesman would sell a car with keyless entry, I would install the alarm in the car. I hope this helps.

Yeah im pretty sure its factory because on both windows it says equipped with ford security system.. or something like that... i changed the battery in the remote control also... im wondering maybe if i buy a different alarm system like maybe a Viper or something, i could get the bypass module which would pretty much bypass my old system right? Thanks for all the replies though guys =]

If you install a viper or something like that you will be starting from square one.I would try to find the module that is in there now and try to eliminate it.Pulle the cover on the steering cover and see if there is any wire that were cut and reconnected to something else.
