Default 2k explorer motor swap

ok, new to the forum go easy please. my stock 91 ho just started knocking in the bottom end. going to replace with boneyard explorer 5.0. i know that this motor uses coilpacks and a cam sensor, question is when i pull the sensor out does the h.o. distributor go back in its place? what otheritems do i need to make this swap. the motor will be complete minus wiring and ecm.

Why not just get the bottom end rebuilt?

You can just remove the coil packs and the hole for the distributor will still be there, albeit plugged. I'm not sure about the cam sensor, though.

yes there is i just did that swap, for starters you need different headers, the oil filter housing is different, you need your old one, oil pan is different, oil pump is different, if your gonna throw in a cam, you need hardened springs so you dont have valve float. your going to use your harmonic balancer and valve covers, timing cover worked on my 94-95 basically you have to unbolt everything except the heads, and it is 100% doable !
