Default steering wheel

Could anyone tell me why my steering wheel is shaking so much? It happens at like 50-60 km/h and just seems to get worse going faster. It is pretty annoying to drive with it like that. Any Ideas on how to fix it or tell me what I need to replace. I also find if I am making a turn I have to almost pull the steering wheel back, most cars the wheel goes back straight....so how do I fix these two problems? Thanks

sounds like an issue with your power steering. check your fluid levels and the pump. other than that look at any possible steering rack damage

i'm bettin on bad tie rods, given the fact that you need to pull the wheel back to straight, its a toe issue as well.

The wheel not coming back is most likely a power steering issue. Try flushing the system first (might help). As far as the shakin goes that could be all kinds of stuff. Our 93 did that and I had to replace an inner tie rod, have the tires balanced, and replace the rotors and bearings (that helped the most). Just check everything and it wouldnt hurt balance the tires anyway since you're really supposed to do it every so often.

Check the front ball joints. They could be seizing up.

For the steering wheel shake. Start off with simple things. Have the tires balanced. Road force is the latest way to balance a tire. It can also recognize a bad sidewall or an assembly that's out of round. Old style balancers ONLY balance the tire/wheel. A tire/wheel can be balance but not be round.

If that's unsuccessful, try an pair of wheel/tire off another car on your front or just rotate your set up.

Yes, check the tie rods. Jack car up and grab wheels at 9 and 3 and try to wiggle back and forth. If you have play that is probably your problem.

Pull on one side while pushing on the other then do the opposite.

Your are trying to see if you have any play, meaning does it move any.
