Default I need help diagnosing this problem.

I was driving normally tonight, not running hard, low rpms, and I hear what sounded like a small backfire. Then the car runs extremely rough, I was able to limp it to my destination by keeping the rpms up. I left about 45 minutes later, and check under the hood and underneath the car, nothing obvious. The car started right up, but would not hold a steady idle. I kept gently revving to 2k to keep it running, and after about 2 minutes, it cleared up and drove home like normal. What could be causing this? I replaced the IAC last year, cleaned the MAF last month. Any ideas appreciated.

I am not sure, it sounds ok, prims when I flip the switch. 2Kwik, here is what she did. It started right up and idled fine, I tapped the MAF and she stumbled slightly. I tapped it again and she stumbled harder, idled up, then died. She started right back up and idled fine, tapped the MAF, she stumbled and died. I started it a third time and idled like she is supposed to, could not replicate the problem a third time.
