speed density issues
when i bought my car-the guy told me it had a 92 motor in it-but further investigation leads me to believe its an 86-88. No maf sensor-its defintely speed density-i dont care-i only spent 100 bucks on the car.lol.neway-ive been readin and seeing how speed density sucks *** and is a lot harder to work with-my goal for this car is too make about 300-350 whp-probably through head work and a nice cam and all other normal mods...as far as cams-are they very limited to the speed density-or r there certain things i gotta look for such as high lift and low duration-ive been thinking about converting to carb just cauz its cheaper-but if i could stick it out with the speed dens, i would-ne ideas would be appreciated

RE: speed density issues
If you plan on goin with a carb. setup, your goin to have to do the same thing as with a SD motor. Your goin to have to tune manually. By that I mean the engine will not put enough fuel into your motor for you, you will have to tune your carb. If I was you, I would get an MAF kit. I think they're around $1-200. But before you do that, you can get exhaust and intake and small stuff. Eventually you will need to get MAF but in the long run, it's better IMO. And about SD being crappy, right out of the factory a stock 87-88 will beat the same modle 89-93 mustang. Hope this helps.

RE: speed density issues
dude just get a used computer off ebay- A9L works for 5 sp, A9P works for auto or 5 sp (2) get a used maf- i just bought a pro m 75mm for $80, and the conversion harness from jegs for $80. I wouldnt spend $600 on a new kit, you should be able to do it for less than $300

RE: speed density issues
also-does neone knnow the specs of a cam safe for the speed density if i were to keep it-i saw somewhere that if the duration is under 220* and the lift is below .50"-it runs ok and responds well-neone know nething else to back this up?
