Default This Could Be Bad....

Lately my car has been vibrating real bad, so i was told it was running rich so i gave it a tune up and stuff, that did solve the gas smelling and rotten egg smell. It was still vibrating real bad though, so somebody told me to look at my harmonic balancer, so today on my lunch break me and a friend go take a look, start it up and hear this horrible horrible clanking..what is it? On the crankshaft pulley, something is definitely complete off, it looks like it fits right behind the crank pulley, well in the situation im in i had to drive the car back home, doing only 5 mph, a 2 mile ride probably.

I see some metal shavings, i see im in for replacing a couple things..but anybody know if it could cause some SERIOUS damage? The part completely off, fits right inside the pulley.

The metal shavings could be where the balancer chewed into the timing cover, and if it eats all the way through you will be looking at big money. Change the balancer out before you drive the car anymore.

Going by his user name I am assuming he has a 95 GT, show me a link to where you can find a timing cover for a 95 for a hundred bucks.

The peice isnt rubber though, but your definitely describing it well, so do you think that loose, caused the vibration and then caused it to just fall off

Ok here are some pictures, the peice behind the pulley that im holding is it of course.

Isn't that the "harmonic balancer"? Could that cause all the vibration if its off track? And how do i fix it? Do i need to replace it, i don't see anything that could secure it in really.
