trans fluid
Aren't Royal Purple (very good fluids) products all purple?
And... If you don't know when the fluid was last changed, just change it. It's cheap insurance. I run mobil 1 sythetic ATF in mine and it shifts better than any other T5 I've ever owned (x3).

Before you flame away. Read my entire reply.
When I bought my car last year. Just out of pure preventative maintenance I swapped all the fluids.
I drained out what I was sure was 80 or 90 weight gear oil. Exactly what we put in differentials and older manual transmissions.
Switched to ATF, drove, drained and refilled again with ATF.
One thing I notice now that it didn't do before is it kind of crunches sometimes 2nd and sometimes 3rd on a quick shift.
I'll post a vid later for you to see. I'm at work and that link is blocked out.
OR. you can go to Youtube. on the search hit " Mustang with snow tires" jfsram
Since had the trans rebuilt and now using GM synchromesh. It still sometimes crunches.
