Default Starter Problem

I have a 302 with a C4 tranmission. The previous owners have a flywheel on there. From what i have heard there should be a 157 tooth flexplate on there. The starter isn't connecting with the flywheel, the flywheel needs to be moved looks like a 1/4" forward. Is there a difference in a flywheel and flexplate width or the way it bolts on that would cause this or is it the wrong starter??

Thanks for any help

Default RE: Starter Problem

Not sure but it the bellhousings may be different between the auto and manual. Also if you have a manualyou have a flywheel and and auto uses a flex plate.
