You dont need a chip for a 5.0.
Chips are pretty much worthless for these cars (except dyno tuned chips but you dont need that either).

Gears are the most noticeable thing you can do on a tight budget. An exhaust will make it sound better and free up a few hp.

Im guessing you have an AOD by the way youre looking for something to do to the tranny. A shift kit firms up the shifts and makes a noticeable difference (I got one put in last week). A stall converter will help you launch for racing.

Welcome to the forums.
Congrats on your gift from dad.
Be calculating, let rich aunt know that you need car stuff for Christmas, birthday, etc. Same with whole family, not just the rich ones.........
Also watch on e-bay and places like that for heads, intake etc...
A little money at the right time can go long way over there....

im a junior in hs too. what ive done to my 5.0 is pretty cheap but its pretty quick. of course start off with some flowmasters. then headers is what i went to to also make it breath a lil better. cold air intake.70 mmthrottle body is an easy 4 bolt upgrade. then throw some 3.73 gears and youll be beatin the rest of the high school pretty much.

70mm wont fit the stock intake manifold

i'd go 65mm max.
