Default rear again?

ok so i have 2 options im thinking about- 1. i can get an 8.8 set up with tru trac unit 31spline moser axles, 3:73 gears, all set up ready to bolt in for 2100 with a girdle. or i can rebuild the crusty old one i have with the same set up for like $1200 with a girdle. if i left the girdle out itd be $140 less. any opinions?

550hp

well I asked the same question a year ago and I was told a 8.8 would not handle the torque, even with the bigger axle.

So, someone else will have to charm in on this, sorry

The 8.8 is equivalent to gm's 12 bolt. I have 31 spline moser's , moser full spool, and axle tubes welded with a MAC rear end girdle, it can handle the power.

blk40th, if you do spend all that money for a new rear end, it will still have to serviced occasionally. I dont think you have done anything suggested to you for the problems with your current diff. Spend the money, but i am not wasting my time giving you several suggestions again. You cant be helped if your not willing to help yourself. Good luck blk40th.

fastblack, im still at work, and have to go to another job till 10 so when i get home tonight thats when i will pull the cover check that out and remove the driveshaft and check play. i value everyones opinion and do not turn down experienced knowledge.the only reason ive been posting about getting new stuff is to find out what other people think the best option is. i just am trying to plan ahead for this.
