Default Havin a charge issue

wassup guys havent been on here in awhile. heres my prob

ok just started up the stang and its chargin 1/4 gauge at idle with all accessories of if i turn them on it charges about half of that. this is at idle.
if i gives it gas it begins 2 charge right. and guage reads about half gauge. by accessories i mean, a/c, wipers, and lights. no system, nothin else.
sum1 gimme an idea. as to what may be wrong.

Here are the specs:
The alternator was tested at autozone and they tol me its good.
Battery holds a charge fine(charged it externally and left it over night and started fine.
I have an SN95 3g alternator.
The two small charge wires have been replaced by one 8gauge wire.
The car has yet to die once its on, but it will not start if I turn it off (If i let the charge die.)
Again with all accesories off the car charges 1/4 guage at idle, once I turn sumthin on I begin to have problems.

Thx in advance guys

also when you did the 3g swap, it could of had a smaller pullie than the original alternator.

i drove it to work the other night and when i wa son the way back it wouldnt charge til i was about 2-2.5k rpms.
i got on the free way and drove wit the OD off so the revs would stay high at around 3k, and after bout 10-15mins it wasnt charge right again, bout 1/4 guage and i had 2 give it more revs almost 4k to get it 2 charge.

It might be your regulator taking a crap. Go out to your local SEARS store and buy a cheapo voltimeter and put it on your battery. If it is less then 13 when running then your regulator has taken a crap.

You should have used a 6ga wire instead of an 8. That's not the problem, but it is a potential one in the future.

How old is the battery? Could be that the battery is developing an internal short that takes a fair amount ofover current to charge. Had that happen before with similar symptoms. Fought it for a while not knowingthe true cause. The night it finally got too bad to work anymore the battery would throw a heck of a spark when jumper cables were connected, so big I thought I had connected them backwards. Sparked that much because of the short inside the battery.

God bless,
