Default Piston Ring installation

I am finally rebuilding my engine and the rings are very unclear as to the order they go. One set has a peen mark on one side andhas abevel on the other side that faces away from the cylinder wall. The other set has a peen mark on one side and is perfectly square. which is the top. as for the oil ring i assume it doesnt matter which goes on the top due to the fact that both are identical. please let me know

The order of the rings is listed on the tab on the box. when you open the first flap, they are ordered on the flap one one of the sides. The side with the punch mark is the top. They should be labeled ABC or 123 on the box and they are in the respective compartments in the box. Hope you still have your box.

I did that last year, I remember either the rings looked different, or the peen marks were different?

They are definitely different. one has a bevel on the inside and one is perfectly square. I just called the summit tech number and they said bevel on the bottom. dont kow if i fully trust a guy getting 8 bucks an hour. so i figured i would ask the professionals....yep those of us who work on our own rides.
