Default MAJOR PROBLEM

well i was driving home coming off the highway and my engine start tapping REALLY loud, my oil pressure was below the gauge so needless to say i shut off my car right away and got it towed to my work. so what happened was my oil pump seized the oil pump drive twisted about 40ish times until it broke it looked like a tapping bit (thank god the distruter was ok) so now tomorrow i get to lower the cradle and get the oil pump out and put her all back together. it hurt to see my car on the back of a tow truck part of me died inside

The same thing basicallyhappened to Dimebag, only his rods tried to gall to the crank, and the rod bolts failed and the caps came off and trashed his block. Shame on Ford for those craptastic stock oil pump driveshafts

Same thing just happened to me.

What you want to do is take the 4 bolts off the oil pump cover and see what went wrong and got clogged in there and did that or if its the pump itself.

If that dam thing dont twist and break, the dizzy and cam gear etc can get destroyed etc.

Take and put a stock one in a vice and twist it with as much force as you can, then you will understand what could of went wrong, if it didnt break.

Actually, it would pobablly shear the roll pin on the distributor gear first....I had a hardened shaft on a 351 clevland motor and when the pump locked up it sheared the roll pin...no damage else where

I have seen this happen on a clevland as well, (4V ) and those were shear pins... but on newer engines I think they may just be roll pins that won't break.
