Default Ignition Problems

Hey yall ive had a problem with my pony for a while now. When I got back from deployment from South America I got into my car and it wouldnt crank.I figured it would have been the battery so I charged it up and still the same thing. WhenI tried to crank the car the car will turn over but it goes dead ASAP. I thought it might have been a fuel problem butI drained all the gas and changed the fuel pump and filter along with the fuel pressure regulator. After that didnt work I fugured it might have been a spark problem soI changed the plugs and wires. Once again I hit the wall. Once that failed I thought Fuel, Spark, and Air is need to start a car soI changed my Mass Air Flow sensor and still nothing. I also went ahead and changed my IAC sensor along with Igition Coil. Now I am in the exact same place I was before but now I have all new parts under the hood. I am lost for ideas and what the problem could be. The car wants to crank but it wont stay cranked. Any help would be greatly praised.

It wants to crank, but won't? So, it cranks ok a couple of times, then slows as if the battery is dead? Sounds like a starter drawing too much current to me.

Is it still the same old battery? Could be the starter as stated, not unheard of, but this situation just sounds like the battery. You could check it for sure with a load tester or a multi meter.

Not sure how you charged the battery, but you could throw a charger/jumper cables on it while trying to crank it and see if that helps. If it has a dead cell in it though, it more than likely won'teven work that route. If you have another vehicle around, I'd take the five minutes and swap batteries if you could, see if that would help.

Good luck.

I hooked my wifes truck up to my car and it still does the same thing. the car turns over like it gets fuel then it shuts off. If i pump the gas a lil bit then it tries to stay started but it still goes dead. This is just mind boggling and ive never had a car do this before.

yeah it tries to start fine but then it just dies. once it tries to crank i can try to pedal the gas and it tries to idle but it still dies. i know its getting gas because once i pedal the gas i can open my door and i can smell the gas.

Have you checked your plugs yet. That gas smell could be unburned fuel because plugs are not firing.
