Question concerning my engine
Ive noticed that everytime i drive for a while, and pop my hood, my oil dipstick is popped out a few inches. I dont believe im getting blow by, my rings are a year old, along with my whole engine. besides that, it was doing the same thing with my old engine, is there anything else that may be causing this pressure build up in my crank case
You ARE getting blow by. All engines get some amount of blowby, the only way you have a 100% seal is if you weld the piston to the cylinder wall. Put a pcv system on it, that's what it's for, to evacuate crankcase pressure that's caused by blowby
there is a crankcase ventilation system on it. I pulled the pcv and noticed oil around the inside. i also believe that its missing the screen, shout the screen be pretty obvious its there because i pulled the valve and stuck my finger down and didnt feel a screen, or feel anything move around.
isnt there only the one hose that relates to the pcv. The one that goes from the valve to the intake? The hose is on correctly. There must be too much pressure in my crank case to be blowing oil through the pcv valve
You'd feel the screen if you stuck your finger down there, so lets assume it is missing, that shouln't cause any problems... unless it is thereto block any oil from getting into the PCV system and pluging it up... ??? Installing the screen is real simple, removing it can be a small PITA,but I would install a screen and a new valve and see what happens.
