I've got a 93 notch and on cold starts, the car stalls 3-5 times before the engine stays running. the rpms just drop and it cuts out. The car has never stalled during a drive and starts up perfectly even a few hours after it has been out. this only happens on initial cold start ups. any ideas as to what this may be?

Could be a few things. Weak fuel pump, ect sensor, dirty IAC and or throttle body just to name a few.

depends on how cold it is outside where your at..if temps have reached near or close to freezing...ford put out a tsb on the IAC motor and moisture freezing the pintle so that it would not operate or un stick itself until a little engine heat dethawed it....or it could simply be carboned up and need cleaning

Its not due to cold weather. I don't know what it is, but my sn95 does the same. It starts and bogs and dies and starts just fine after that. and then it won't do it until the next morning.

I used to have the same problem and after I changed out my pump, it completely went away. Definitely a point to consider.

you need to check fuel pressure it's not that it's a weak pump possibly because a weak pump would and or can cause drivability issues like hesitations and or lack of power on full throttle accelerationsif you don't have any of those symptoms what normally causes your problem is the check valve in the pump goes bad allowing pressure to bleed back into the tank so after you let the car sit a while then hop in and immediately try and start it pressure is not at optimal range and the car will die....try turning the ignition key on two or three cycles before attempting to start it and see if that'll solve the problem.......you can easily diagnosis this problem with a fuel pressure gauge hooked up to the car and while cycling the key if the problem is present that I mention you will see pressure immediately fall or steadily fall to 0....the system should maintain pressure with maybe a 5 psi drop max over 15 min...also make sure you don't have a clogged fuel filter...you can remove that and blow through it to see if any restriction is present
