Default Tremec trans fluid

I have the Tremec 3550. Gonna do a fluid change this weekend. How many quartz of fluid will this take, I'm thinkin 3 quatrz? Does anyone know any tricks on how to get the fluid in the tranny? The fill plug is on the side of the trans and it's not like just pouring it in there. Do I need a hand pump or something?

i just did mine last weekend. A siphon is your friend. I bought a cheap one first and after about half an hour of it not working, I went back to the auto parts store and got a better one. Filled the tranny up and plugged it in less than 10 mins. The first siphon had a squeeze pump, where as the second one had a hand pump. Hand pump was way better IMO b/c I got tired of the squeeze pump real quick.

Forget those messy hand pumps.

run a clear tube you get from hardware store, down thru engine bay to trans.
and stick it in the fill hole. Now go back up top to the engine bay and EASILY
but slowly poor your fluid in.

Mine takes 3 qrts. Make sure you use the right fluid. Tremecs use special fluid.
I use Royal Purples Syncromesh fluid.

The reason I used a pump was because I was doing it myself and wanted to be able to make sure fluid was going in and when it got to the top so I could plug it up.

Thanks guys, I called Tremec last week and they recomend anything with Synchromesh and said should take 3 qrtz. I run Royal Purple 5W-30 so I think I'll stick with RP. R.barn, thanks for the good idea withthe tube, much cheaper dude.
