Trans ????UPDATE
Last Few mornings my trans doesnt shift from first to second(aod rebuilt) when it is really cold in the morning . My side street is 1-mile long and by that point it will engage the next gear properly. I am not sure if car just needs to warm up a little longer and get all the fluids circulating properly or if something else is wrong. I checked the fluid level and when I did so I kept getting some foam/bubbles on the dipstick. This might be from the o-ring slipping out of position??? The fluid wasnt bright red like new but wasnt very dark either.. So I just want to know what you think. Time for oil change w/filter??? Flush???No Problem ???? Or something else?? Thanks.
Man I hope thats not the case! My funds are real low since i JUST HAD TO GET NEW wINTER tIRES. "sorry about the caps." Any other ideas or thought/solutions? Thanks!!
I just dropped off the car. The shop is going to look at it in the morning since that is when the transmission is not shifting properly. When its cold like at first start up that is when it happens but after warming up it seems ok. Mechanic says it initially sounds like it could be a valve problem. Like the valves are sticking when cold and since it gets better after it has been driven a little the valves are expanding when warm and functioning better.. Does that sound about right???........So he's gonna test drive it tommorow morning and he said if there is a problem and its repairable it would be around $400-$500 . Does that sound fair????......He said a complete rebuild would be between $1200-$1500. That seems expensive right???? I am wondering what I should look out for as far as what is told to me to be the problem is. I understand thattrans will need to be pulled to be fixed but I dont want to get caught with a complete rebuild if it is something easily replaced with an inexpensive part that might be the cause. I'm ticked off because I had a rebuild done about 30,000 miles ago andI think it should have lasted much longer.... So any info or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
Well....after the mechanic took apart the trans he said that all of the clutches, bands, steels, torque converter, etc...were all stock....The problem is that I had AAMCO rebuild my trans 3+years ago. They were supposed to have built it up per my request using high performance clutches, bands, steels, higher stall torque converter, pump, boost valve, boost plug kit,etc.. Basically replacing all internals with upgraded higher performance parts. Now my car is back in my parking space with no work done and I have started to file a complaint against AAMCO. I am having my mechanic fill out some info on what was discovered upon tear down of the trans and document it and I am submitting that along with original invoice from AAMCO in order to hopefully get my money back or trans replaced with new one or actually buikt to the specs I had originally payed for. AAMCO basically left my trans stock-for-stock and even left the original torque converter in there after probably just using there flushing machine to try and clean out any debris. Thats sad because Mine was supposed to be new. ONLY problem now is I need to look for another car this weekend since I need A daily driver and hopefully I can get my money back for work not done or get a trans work done for free since they didnt do what I payed too much money for!!!! DONT EVER TRUST AAMCO.
