Default engine help...need some help

85 GT. Ive got smoke coming out of one side of my pipes. Its a grayish, blue smoke. Just put head gaskets and working heads with good seals puton the car. Compression test showed same compression throughout engine. Before i put the good heads and gaskets on it was just one cylinder i was having trouble with. What else could be the culprit if this smoke persists? Bad piston rings? cylinders looked good when i took the heads off, would i notice anything with the cylindersif these were no good? Any help would be great, just want to know the other culprits to this problem.

Did you make sure the you put the alignment dowels back in the heads? But grey black means burning oil, did you comp check every cylinder? Doa leakdown test as well?

I just took heads from another working motor and put them on. Would the alignment dowels already have been in? The head went right into place and bolted up fine. Every cylinder had the same compression though, yes. And are you talking about doinga leakdown test for oil, and if so can you elaborate a bit. Just do an external check? Also would i have noticed a difference in appearance ofthe cylinder if the ring was worn when i took the heads off. Thanks.

sounds like the oil ring may be sticking go buy some sea foam and pour about 1/4 can in crank case and see if it fixes it.

no it wont hurt if you read the back it says to put in crank case. you might just follow the directions and suck it into the engine, pour in the crank case and pour in gas. one bottle will do all. works great!!!
