Does anyone know y wen i go 3,000 rpms or higher the "check enigne" comes up for i about 30 sec then turns off. i change my oil regularly so i'm thinkin that its something more. i plan to get the engine timing checked.

 

You could be running rich at those RPMs so your O2 sensor is causing the ECU to throw the light on. Get a code reader for your car and see if anything is stored. I'm not as familiar with the OBDI systems as the OBDII but I do know the OBDI systems were very simple (usually EGR or O2 sensor related).

 

The check engin light comes on when the EFI system get a reading from a sensor that is out of spec . if the timeing is out it wont throw a light . get a scan tool from auto zone $15.00 . read the directions its easy look up the codes replace the bad sensor . light goes out . But read the directions thare is more to the test than just pluging in the tool , rev engin , turn weel , pump brake . if your going to run EFI you havto know how to do this test . the car will tell you what is wrong you just hafto know how to get it to talk to you
