Default transmission

So about 2 weeks ago i somewhat lost OD. I can still put it in OD but i cant really push the gas in far or else it will slip. Now 1st and 2nd are starting to shift higher. I was thinkin of rebuildin my trans. I have a guy who can do it for 1000 bucks and put a shift kit in it, or i can buy a new trans from PA or B&M. What should i do please help

Default RE: transmission

My 92 is kinda soft. Being new to stangs I took it to a pro who drove it, and besides being designed to be soft and a weird 2nd gear arrangement, he said it could use a rebuild to replace the seals. If I understood him correctly, seals help keep vacuum in particular areas which is what the trans uses to shift. When the seals get hard, they start to lose their ability to seal, and lose vacuum, and shifting starts to suffer. He told me $1200-1400, including a shift kit.I'm still chewing on that one. I asked him about converting to manual trans and he said it would be a pain. Anyone here actually done the swap?

If you want to keep the AOD Id get a Lentech valvebody that allows you to select 2nd gear manually without the 1-d-1 crap.

yea im getting a rebuild on my AOD in the spring when i get taxes back and my guy is charging $1600 but it also will be beefed up pretty good, also i have heard about this 1-D-1 how do you do itexactlyand is it ok to do in my 88 GT. i have a real nice TCI valve body with a shift kit in mine and that thing chirps the tires in every gear, i love it.

Start in 1, wind it out, shift to D and quickly shift back to 1. Thats how you hit second gear.
