my tranny slips when it hits 2nd or if it makes it that far it does not want to down shift. the car has 60000 miles on it and i bought it from a 70 year old woman who was the original owner. i did not have the chance to take it in before winter hit and it went into the garage, was just wondering what to expect or if there could be somthing else that would be causing this besides the tranny its self.

 

drain the fluid, change the filter fill back up. i had a 92 mustang that slipped and when i did this it stopped slipping and lasted 4 more years.

 

already changed out the fluid with no results,but left the old filter would it be worth it to back and redo it and put in new filter?

 

does it only do it sometimes? if so the filter could be the culprit

 

it takes time but it slips eventually each time i drove it after the problems started

 

well there not much more you can do.

 

why would you not change filter you are already in there.
