About to buy stuff for 3G alt swap, few questions
Getting ready to buy the necessary stuff for a 3G alt swap, wanted to make sure I understand this completely, first the parts
Alt

Harness

and on the Alt page it says I must upgrade the charge cable, should I? or am I fine with my current stock setup?
I have to purchase the pully seperately, whats best? if I can get the pully off a 94-95 Alt which size would that be? can I use the one from my old Alt?
any other little odds or tips I should know about?

first off the buy the alt from the parts store, second you dont need that harness, run a direct power from the solonoid or the battery to the back of the alt and do NOT connect the 2 orange and black wires to the alt. I used a 4 gauge on mine, and I also used an inline 150amp waffer fuse. You will also need to make a larger ground from the motor to the main ground behind the battery. Ive read you cant use your old pulley however I used mine and I havent had any issues

Connect both blk/org wires AND the 4 gauge wire to the stud on the back of the alternator
so that you wont have to wait for it to be shipped, i know in the how-to's it says to, after some research on SN those wires arent meant to carry the new amp load, so its best to leave them disconnected or it might cause a fire. I personally dont have them connected and my alternator works great
I run the Powermaster 140 AMP, use one wire that came with it straight to battery w inline fuse like primetime said, took electrical tape and covered stock plug pins and wrapped elec tape around that in case I need to use stock alt, the connections will be clean.

what do those two black/orange wires do? i connected them with no problems yet....

When i did my install a couple weeks ago I had nothing but problems with the black orange wires installed. So i went crazy and ripped ALL the wires out including the headlight wires and everything. Come to find out...those two black/orange wires end up going together into one, which is the same gauge....then connect to a fusable link, then to an even smaller wire. WTF was ford thinking!? so I ripped all of those out, jumped the yellow/white? (i think) to the main power output of the alt. then ran a 4 gauge wire straight to the battery. At idle my car charges at 14.2 with all accecories on.
