Default Camshaft ???

I have an 86 mustang gt, im going to switch the current 5.0 out for a newer one, but in keeping the stock heads and speed density, what cam would you recommend. dont tell me that the heads should be changed cause I dont have money and I know that already. I have heard good things with the crower 15511 cam, anything else that you would suggest?

thanks

If you are not swapping the heads then I don't see much of a point in swapping the motors.

because the flat top pistons on the 86 make it hard to put a cam in. and I dont want to deal with the possiblity of ptv contact, b/c the cam is too big. not to mention the motor I have is knocking. so I figure it would be cheaper to just buy another 5.0 since there are and abundance of them

well there really isn't a point to changing the cam if your keeping the stock heads bro, get some new AFR's and then get a e303

Ya but you are doing the swap so that you can upgraded cams but at the same time you are not upgrading away from speed density, so your cam selection is still very limited. I mean if you wait a bit and look aroundI'm sure you could upgrade the top end without spending much $$ at all. Craigslist is a great place to find used 5.0 parts for next to nothing.

there is a cam chart somewhere around here it might be in the stickys for speed density....
I would get the biggest one i could for SD and then when you are ready to change your heads out you will already have a cam.....

I used to race this guy who had a stang just like mine in the late 80's the only diff was he had a cam and i didnt needless to say he won everytime..

NOW I HAVE NITROUS I NEVER LOSE MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

didn't you read???? he has speed density ..a e-303 would not be a optimal choice for that application[&:]the crower cam should be a decent choice for SD

In a stock 5.0 don't bother with a cam.
