Default question

i know this probably isn't the right forum, but what is the point in a 5 lug conversion. i have an 88 gt with less than 50k and i wanted to keep it as original as possible, but get better rims and tires. keep the original turbines for if i ever sell. the car is a weekend/summer driver.

The point you pretty much just eluded to yourself there, is to get better selection of wheels and brakes. Theres alot more out there for 5 lug then 4, and at alot better prices new and used.

yea just alot better choices on wheels, also just for more strength so you dont rip your lugs right out

Default RE: question

I've been debating this for awhile myself. I have 4-lug cobra's on now and have thought of doing 5's simply for better brakes. Although, after a consult with someone who know's I think I may stay with 4's and swap out the rear drums for disks. As for selection of wheels in 5's, in my opinion there's not many wheels out there that look good on the 5.0's..... mainly speaking of the newer styles. IMHO

Default RE: question

in the past the only way to get disc brakes on the back were to change to 5 lug, but latemodelrestoration sells a rear disc brake kit for 4 lugs now. so the only benefit of changing would be to have a wider range of rims. thats about it.
