I've always gone with unbolting the mounts from the frame.

yea do frame, when I pulled mine I took off the mounts from the engine (first and last time doing that) it was a pain to line up all the bolts again when I put it back in, so yea, unblot from frame, not engine.

have fun with the oil pan and oil pump project. i just did min last sunday and it was a lot of fun. youll have less of a headache if you unbolt the steering rack from the k member and let it drop a little. it also gets a little tricky putting everything back together.
