valva problem
Today I was setting the valve lash on my car and when I was spinning the motor over to do the 4th piston on the pass. side the motor locked up. I gave it another tug and still nothing. I backed it off and loosened the valves that were open and the motor spun freely, so i am assuming one of the open valves were kissing the piston. My question is, is why? I used the adjust intake when exhaust is opening, and adjust exhaust when the intake is closing. This is correct right? I turned a half turn past, is this to much? FYI this is a TF stage 1 cam, TW heads, and a 91 shortblock. The pistons, and whole shortblock are stock. the cam is degreed straight up __________________

RE: valva problem
iv'e used the tfs stage 1 kit on stock bottom ends with twisted wedge heads with no problems....another way to set preload and this is the methood I use rather than the split over lap methood....what you can do is roll number 1 up to tdc and then you can do both intake and exhaust at same time and I go no more than 1/2 turn and then once cyl 1 is done move to the next cylinder in the firing order and move it to tdc and so forth repeating the process on all 8 cyl
