Default Ford Crate Engine

im looking at a crate engine to do come this fall or next year since ive racked some series miles on my engine and it seems more economical then a rebuild...

its listed on blueovalindustries.com as this http://www.blueovalindustries.com/pr...p?pid=99011377

its the Ford Racing 302 GT-40 Crate Engine 345 HP ford item number M-6007-XB3M

has anyone had any experience with this engine, if i throw on a typhoon intake with 70mm throttle body and use my exisiting cai and shorty headers is it still going to be a) streetable as a daily driver and b) does 350 seem like a reasonable horsepower output

with intake, tb, egr spacer, the crate engine, and reusing my existing water pump, alternator, p/s pump and smog pump and either the ac condensor or a delete kit its about 5,500.00, does that seem worth it...?

thanks for any and all help, as always

for 5500 you could build a lot better motor than that and maybe even have room for a supercharger

if your gonna spend 5500 do this!!
http://fordstrokers.com/index.php?target=cart
and you'll still have 2000 left over to play with and make tons more power than the ford crate motor

I have that Ford B-cam crate motor in my '65 fastback that I have converted to EFI. Of course, you'll be able to find other motors out there that generate more power and/or cost less. That said, the Ford Racing motors are great motors with all new components at a pretty good price IMO. BTW, you can get that motor from Summit Racing for $4059 with shipping about $125. I had mine delivered two days after ordering it.

If streetability is your thing, you may want to get the E-cam motor instead, especially if you have an automatic. No offense to the other guys who posted above, but I wouldn't go with either a supercharger or 347 for a daily driver. The Ford Racing motor will put out enough power to get you in trouble while remaining streetable at the same time.

BTW, the motor comes with a brand new reverse rotation water pump, fox body oil pan and dipstick and nifty polished Motorsport valve covers. FWIW, I'm using an Explorer intake, Accufab 70mm TB, 24# injectors and a 77mm Pro-M MAF with an A9L computer. Works great!

Good luck!

I know that people speak very highly of that place from what I've seen. To be clear, what would be the true cost to get the motor to the same level of finish as the Ford Racing motor (i.e. everything but the intake manifold)? I could be wrong, but it looks like you could easily spend well over $4000 to get to finish up the long block, correct? In addition to the balancer, the Ford motor also includes a new flywheel.

The ford racing long block isn't finished either..it requires transfer of parts too like intake......roughly you'd spend 3617.00 for a ford strokers 347 still needing roller rockers ,pushrods, =250.00 more intake efi= 350.00 to 400.00 used maybe cheaper and transfer your timing cover and water pump over so roughly I 'd say 4300.00 which is right in line with the ford crate motor and you'd have a motor that'd blow the doors off the ford crate motor with afr 185 heads on the ford stroker motor.....and as for nor being good for a daily driver...that's one of the biggest misconceptions and myths now ...maybe issues early on with 347's but they've been corrected...I have numerous customers with boat loads of miles on their 347 equiped stangs with no issues or oil burn...one in particular that was in last week has 100k on his and still going strong with no oil burn and he runs it hard.....so either motor is a good choice it just depends on how many dollars per horsepower you want to recieve....IMO I want to get the most bang for my buck...but everyone is different

10:1 means i'll have to run 93 right???

i saw this one actually and thought about it, but i dont remember, does it come with the whole efi set up, or was that the 347 that efi wont clear the valve covers??

when i say daily driver i mean something that can handle about 700 miles a week, because thats what i do, and preferbly run on 87 or 89 octane, looking for 350+ power.
