charging question
hey guys i just rebuilt my motor and put a new 3g alt on it. before i took the motor apart i was pushing around 14 volts all the time. as i was taking the alt off i accidentally touched the 4g wire to a bolt and it sparked ( stupid me forgot to disconnect the battery) anyway now all i can get out of it is 11volts. i cant remember if it happened before or after the spark mishap but when i turn on my electric fan the battery just drains and eventuallly the car shuts off..any ideas?

RE: charging question
Well, have you checked your fuses? When you installed the 4g wire, didn't you run a 150 amp in line like you were supposed to? Where is the 4g wire coming from? Is there power (battery voltage) to it. Maybe you shorted the new alt

RE: charging question
no you are correct the 4g wire goes from the alt to the starter solenoid...but i jsut fixed it..what happened was i had stock gauges on when i first put the alt in...i changed them out to a florida 5.0 autometer set up and i didnt put the battery indicator feed to a 12volt source ( i didnt get instructions with the autometer pod) and i just looked on there site. apparently if that isnt connected your alt is an open circuit...anyway now that i fixd that im back to 14 volts now...one question...where is the cheapest place to get a 150 inline?
