Default Carb Electric Choke

Does the choke allow the the engine to have more air or more fuel when the engine is cold and the choke is working properly?

It blocks off air flow through the primaries and in turn the there is more availible fuel to mis with less air= richer mixture

Ok, because my engine is running really rich right now and I was wondering if having the choke unhooked would allow it to have more air or not while I am tweaking with it. It doesn't go anywhere so I am not worried about the drivabilty of it.

having it unhooked would not allow the choke element to opperate correctly...when it's set for a while outside see if the flap is in the closed position......as the engine warms up it'll slowly open but when it's hooked up it uses elec current to heat a coil up to allow the choke to release

Ok, yea I felt the choke housing the other day after I had been playing with the car. I still have to properly adjust it yet. I just havn't taken the time to do it.

It needs to be wide open when the engine is warmed up to run properly.
