i have a 87 with a sunroof. could i still install t-tops on it? i'd have to weld on a centerbar i guess?

doesa mustang without a sunroof already have a centerbar?

is the roof metal or fiberglass.. i installed t tops on my 98 firebird and the roof was fiberglass so it was real easy to cut off.

 

You would be better off to buy a car with t-tops or a t-top roof section and weld it in yours. I am sure you can do it the one off way, but it has already been done, so buy the parts and do it right.

 

cut the section off with at least 5 inches of extra area, mark your lines, grind your lines and weld the new section in.

Grind your welds smooth and gelcoat or bondo the area ETC.

Fords are metal.

 

i'll look at a junkyard for the t-top section.

i used to have a old 80 something mustang that a tree fell on and it had a brand new set of t-tops in bags in the trunk..and i forgot to take them out when i took it to the junkyard.

 

I would get a whole roof clip since it will have all the bracing and everything you will need.

 

good luck finding one in the junkyard....they arent too common.. I have one and when I bought it was a huge pile...

the only reason I bought it honesty, was because of the roof....

 

Also If your going to transplant the t-top onto your aero nose car from a four eye car you will have to find the correct trim peices because they changed in 87 t-top cars. And those peices are hard to find.

but 3 years ago, me and my buddy was at a pull and pay yard, he used a cordless rec saw and took the whole roof clip off a Camaro.

We went up to pay, and the clerk got pissed and told him, he just bought the whole car for $500 .

I told the *** hole its illegal to sell us a "car" that is here and its illegal for you to sell us catalyic converters, but yet you sell them and offered us one on this car.
I told him id be more than happy to have the cops come and would sue him afterwards.

He told us take the dam thing. I mean they were gonna crush the dam thing, it was wrecked bad, what was he smoking.

 

Targa top > T tops

 

I'd be alot less hassle to look for a t-top mustang...they are more rare but you can find them
