Default engine guru's inside!!!!

Well, I got the motor all together. Everything is buttoned up, and I stabbed teh distributor. I tried turning it over, and nothing. It just spun. The engine would not fire. I tried moving the dizzy around, stabbing it again, everything. I trieed timing it for 4 hours today, and I got nowhere. The motor didnt even try to stumble. I could smell lots of raw fuel, but I checked the spark and it looks good, firing order is right, plugs are new, I cannot figure this out for the life of me. I am pulling my hair out. Does anyone have any ideas?? FYI the motor is a TF HCI combo, s-trim, and all supporting mods.

hmm...

even @ 180 deg. out or with the wrong firing order on the distributor it will backfire and pop and crap.

if the injectors were pulsing at the wrong time it would still have fuel in it from pulsing and should still wanna run to some degree i would think.

are the valves adjusted too tight? maybe they aren't closing all the way? did you install the cam 180 deg out?

f*ck dude, i dunno what else to come up?

I was wondering if valve adjustment would cause a problem. I turned 3/4 turn past zero lash. Would that be too tight? About the cam, I installed it dot to dot. How could I have screwed that up?

Try a compression test first. Cam 180 out?

Could compression be bad? I just put new head gaskets on, and ARP bolts. Even with bad compression wouldnt the engine at least stumble?

How to Solve an EFI NO START
Thank you, I will run through those tomorrow. How weak would the spark have to be to not fire?

You could have good spark at the spark plug wires, but since it has a raw fuel smell, need to also check the plugs are not fuel fouled.

thats the first thing i thought, that would mean zero compressionand explain the fuel smell. try loosening up the rockers and see if it starts to run.

i always went 1/2 turn and never had a problem. it would be fairly easy to crack them loose one at a time and back off 1/4 turn then tighten up the poly-lock
