Put it on jackstands and get under there and make sure there is nothing lose. I would not be driving till you get if fixed. It could be a number of things, but all of them include getting under there and checking it out.

well I dont know exactly what to say or do but I have sloppy steering in my 94 GT so I replaced some of my bushings in my steering rack and im going to replace my power-steering pump. You can get and replace the bushings pretty easily. As for the knock i dont know enough about that. How many miles are on your car?

He's saying it drifts. He did not state there was play in the steering but IDK maybe that is what he is trying to say.

yea i have play in my wheel and my car drifts too. most of the time its tie rods or bushings.. could be as simple as an alignment though too. i had skinnies on the front and had no problem but then i put wider tires on there(9 inch) and it pulls all over the road. is the car lowered? uneven tire wear? could be alot of things

im gonna say you have a broken tie rod end. Jack the car up and wiggle the tires and see if they move in/out or up/down. let us know buddy.

^^^^^^yep^^^^^ check your tie rods also i have seen some racks come out of adjustment the big nut by the p/s lines back off and creates to much gear lash..

also another problem that I have seen on my sn95 is the lower steering shaft where it meets the rack will go out check the black rubber <its almost like a slip> for play. Unfortunatly not going to make a loud noise like you have.
