First Time Here- have a question
Hi guys, this is my first time posting. i do not own a mustang but have a question about purchasing one from a family friend
it is a 91 gt convertable. from the sound of it, it is basically a new car. it has a new top, complete new interior, and is a saleen clone. it has the saleen tale, rear fascia work, etc, as well as the roll bar. it has new paint (5000 dollars), new cobra rims/kumho ecsta low profile tires (all under 400 miles). the motor is said to be pushing 400 horse.
my question to you is..... is a car of this age, really worth the 8000 dollar asking price? even despite over 16,000 in modifications?
i would love to buy this car for the summer, but have a feeling i will get burned when i go to resell

RE: First Time Here- have a question
These cars, meaning the fox bodies, are slowly becoming classics.. They are one of the praised muscle cars of their era... They are also still one of the most feared muscle cars on the road today... I think the only way the price is going to go is up.. They are great cars and you may not want to sell it once you have it... i say go for it if it is in great shape... Just make sure to go over everything on the car and make sure everything is nice and tighty..

RE: First Time Here- have a question
yes on resale in a few years it will be a lil lower, do you have any pics, we need some to judge, also what kind of stuff is done to the motor to make 400hp thats a lot, what brands and stuff like that.

RE: First Time Here- have a question
i'm pretty sure the car is going to be in pristine condition upon seeing it, the owner is a perfectionist and was bought at a car show. the paint job, rims, tires, roll bar, interior, top, etc all have less than 400 miles on them.
but, i guess i'm still wondering is it worth the price tag

RE: First Time Here- have a question
from my talking to him, it has new heads, cam, ignition, internals, and then just the headers (ceramic) and flowmaster exhaust. he said he had reciepts for all work done, and it was estimated at that, never pulled on the dyno. so, i suspect that may be a bit lower. what does the 91 gt 5.0 put out stock? 240? i'm guess it's more like 300 or 310 crank as opposed to 400.

RE: First Time Here- have a question
wel, i'm not buying it for the horsepower, i'm buying it because it's a clean 5.0 convertable.
forgot to mention, it is also a manual, which is a big plus to me.
also, it has by the sounds of it a nice suspension set up. said it had full racing suspension, sub frame connectors, aftermarket front end (a-arms etc.) and a aftermarket rear end (he wasn't sure who it was made by)
he works at ford motor company, and said it is like no other rear end he's ever seen. any ideas what he could be talking about.
