you don't need to put a piston in it to tell...take an old ring and put it in the cyl take a small flashlite and I bet you'll see light between the rings and wall..the car will smoke and have low compression in that cyl....sorry to say but cut your loss on this block[]

yo .060" whats do that make 360 CID +/-

It makes it a 362, which is what I have too.
That hot tank job is terrible!!! My block looked brand new when I got it back.
Oh...and I would scrap that block if I were you. If that scratch is big deep enough to catch a finger nail on, then it no good dude. Your "machinist" should have been able to tell you from the beginning, that the one cylinder wall was ruined....before he did any machining.

if his shop is anything like my local one then they wouldnt tell him if it was bad. cant make money if he didnt leave it there. at least they didnt try to fill the scratch up with something and try to hide it. seen that happen before here.

it costed 125 for the tank and the bore. luckily i have a spare block that i just got this week, so ill punch the block # into the comp and see how it matches up.

the "scratch" is not an actual scratch. what it is is the block was messed up at the top; the bore got bigger at the top. then atop of that was a HUGE ring ridge, so big the pistons wouldnt come out. so there is a tiny chance that the rings wont go up that high.
