Default Weight

I have an 88 mustang gt and I was wondering what is my stock off the showroom floor weight. Also I would like to know where to start in terms of taking weight off. Would like to drop about 200-500 lbs. Thanks

about 3300 w/ no driver and all power options inc ac

dropping weight depends on what your willing to give up...most of it is not meaningless weigth so you'll have to compromise something

trunk (spare tire jack etc)
sway bars (both) = about 40 pounds if i remember
smog pump and all related = 20 pounds or so
race wheels and skinnies = ??? but X 4 wheels gotta be about 50-60+
glass hood
inner bumper supports
aluminum heads = alot probably 20-25 pounds each

no sway bars + skinny fronts + cheater slicks on back = watch it in the rain...it's doable but don't expect to do 85 in a big storm

^^ Nice post. But be careful, alot of that stuff is not really recommended for daily drivers, like removing bumper supports, etc.

that would be incorrect , where did you find that ??? curb weight ? on a title ?

my notch weighs that w/ no smog, sway bars, or anything in the trunk

so add the ground effects and back hatch to that number

i have a DOT scale at work , and have to cross it every day , so just trust me on this

can i come by and weigh my car?

I guess i'd be surprised if an 88 GT weighed more than my Cobra, though, according to my reg. Is the reg. weight without any fluids?
