Default RE: TPS problem still

i was wondering since i put in a 331 stroker in my car is that the problem im having with the TPS bc of the dramic increase in airflow with the new engine and the computer is fixing itself. Im just guessing and also to fix this is to get a chip isnt it. If i do what chip should i get that can be changed if i add more mods to the car?

It seems to me that you are getting reference voltage on the signal wire. This tells me that you have a short to power. Unplugged, it should be zero. The signal wire is sending voltage back to the PCM. This lets the PCM know how much throttle you are giving it and how fast. Have you traced the wire back? Physically trace the wire back into the harness. Make sure the insulation isn't cracked and making contact with the ref. voltage wire. Check for pinched wires (freshly installed engine or trans, it can happen).

mabye you have the sensor installed backwards?
this is the only thing I can think of.
the wires should point toward the back of the car.

other than that, is your throttle open when you check it?
you should set the idle first, with the car running, then set the tps with the engine off key on.

you probably know this already though.
mabye ford had a bad batch of tps sensors.

Alright stanglx, then you eliminated a bad TPS basically. It seems trannyman is right on target. There's probably some chafing down the line on the wires, and the 5V reference voltage is shorting to the return signal wire. See, the computer see's no voltage drop, so it think's it's at WOT, 4.96V. Back probe and find the short to reference voltage.
