Default Engine light

Ok now when you first turn on your key or first start your car isnt the engine light suppose to come on for a sec? Mine dont i think some one took it out!!!

88's don't have CE's unless I believe it is a Cali model. I thought the same thing when I first got my 88 but come to find out, they don't have them. And I'm not sure on the whole putting one in on a 88 thing. I know if you swaped wiring harness from a newer fox and computer you could. Maybe a maf conversion with some extra wiring but I'm not real sure on that. I'm sure someone will chime in with correct info.

so to be able to do the kaeo test i would need a test light and hook it up to the self test circut?

You'll need a testlight and a jumper wire.
