Default Vacuum Question

Is there a vacuum line running into the under side of the upper mannifold? and if so is it accessible without taking off the upper manifold?

I have a vacuum leak and it sounds like that is where it is coming from, I'm going to be getting the stang out soon and that is top on my list to fix this year.

Thanks

If its the hose by firewall that runs under intake, I think you would have to remove. As for the other hose that runs under intake in front, you might be able to do it. I need to change the one by firewall. You might as well remove intake,do both hoses, and thow a new gasket on.

i replaced the one on the front of the intake that goes to the charcoal canister without removing the upper intake. it was pretty simple, but a pretty tight space to work with.

Default RE: Vacuum Question (problem solved)

The vacuum leak was the vacuume line under the upper manifold in the front going down to the canister. It was either dry rotted or melted on the bottom side as soon as I cut the line the car ran so much smoother. I will go get a new hose tomorrow. I can't believe I never found that last year.

I finally gotthe stangout for the first time this year too, ahhh so nice to drive it again.

Your talking about the line to the MAP sensor right? How was the car running before? I am in the process of replacing mine now due to a rough idle and rich running condition.... very rich. Just hoping I am on the right path.

No, it is the smaller vacuum line. When you look between the upper and lower intake, it is on the left side (if standing infront of the car) it comes out and loops down past the distributor and down to the front passenger side of the car to the charcoal canister(breather canister).

The car would die when started (cold) and then had a rough idle, loped really bad. As soon as I corrected the problem the car idled very smooth.
