If you didn't take off your smog pump off, you can get a belt for a non A/C car at the parts store. The clean way to take the lines off going to the firewall is to take out the evaporator core.

When you have the a/c and the smog pump removed and you try to run the belt around the pulleys the belt touches at the tensioner and the water pump, the only 2 ways i can see that you can avoid this is to also remove your power steering, which sucks, or go onto dbecks website and see how he re-posistioned the tensioner and see if that will give you enough clearance good luck and let us know how it goes

you can get the Ford fuel line fitting breaker tool at any auto parts store and this same tool will release the fitting on the AC lines so you can remove them. it costs less than $20.
and you can move the belt tensioner over to the AC mounting bracket and put it inside the belt to provide tension when both the smog pump and AC are gone. the belt will run close to the water pump pulley but not hit it if you get the right belt length and position the tensioner just so.

i plan to delete my AC and Smog. I've seen belt diagrams that delete these, and didn't move the tensioner. is it absolutely necessary to move the tensioner to the AC bracket spot??

When you have the a/c and the smog pump removed and you try to run the belt around the pulleys the belt touches at the tensioner and the water pump,
I can't agree here. I've removed the AC (for now) and I was able to run the belt under the tensioner to the power steering pump, and I had about an inch or so clearance over the stock water pump pulley.

I can tell you that I used a 83 1/2" belt, but have a undersized crank pulley, and a oversized alternator pulley, plus I still have the smog pump, so this isn't going to work for you.

But what you can do is this. Have a friend hold the tensioner up high enough (but still within the range marked on the mount) and run a string around all the pulleys (as if it was the belt). Mark it, and measure the length of the string. This will get you in the ballpark as far as the length, but be prepared to go an inch or so shorter than what you measured. This is because the tensioner will really make the belt tight.

Plan at least a couple trips to the parts store.

Oh, and make sure it's a 6 rib belt...

maybe not, but I had underdrive pulleys and the larger water pump pulley was the reason the belt would try to hit itself.

After you remove the ac and move the power steering up , do you have to plug the lines going into the firewall , all i did was hack them off, should i do any more steps to ensure nothing goes wrong.

don't worry about the AC lines but make sure the lines from the power steering pump are not kinked or in the way of any moving parts.
