Default hypereutectic piston rings?

i know that ford went to hypereutectic pistons in 1993 but did this change anything in the piston ring clearance? i heard somewhere that there was a bigger clearance in non-hypereutectic rings.

not yet buddy! my neighbor is this engine brainiac and told me if my pistons were hypereutectic i could not use traditional rings. he said the heat distribution would crush the ring or some off the wall shet like that. what do you think?

im guessing you are building a motor? you will need to measure the ring thickness there is two different ones. i would definately buy the moly rings and not the iron. they will seal better and last longer.

your buddy is referring to a true hyper piston like KB's, they need a large ring gap or the ends will butt together and pop the top of the piston off.

Here is an idea, don't use hyper pistons! It would answer your question and you don't have to worry abot them failing. Spend the extra cash to get forged if you are building a motor.
