Default rear end

im going to look at a 8.8 rear end with 3:73 gears on it to replace my 7.5 rear end ... whats the best way to tell if this used rear is any good, i dont wana waste my money on it

you could always buy a rebuilt one or rebuild it yourself. and like fastblack said, take it apart to look for damage.

yea its only $150 and in order to get a tlock and gears for my 7.5 rear it would be $340 so it sounds nice, how much would someone charge to rebuild it?

idk, im sure its not a direct fit, but it can be done. id say just go with the gears for your current setup. no guessing

I'm not sure if it's a direct swap. But modifications should be minimal. What car is it goin in. Does it have a 6 or 8 cyl? If it's a six are there plans to swap an 8 cyl in there?

its going into a 1994, not sure what its out of waiting for the guy to call me back, and im not planning a v8 swap i just wanted to get the tlock and 3:73 gears

if its from a fox its not as wide as your stock one. make sure its out of a sn95 or its not the same but will still fix but i guess its good if you want to put wider wheels on
